What Is A Precinct Delegate?
Precinct delegates are a critical part of the election process. Delegates can be the cornerstone of election wins by contacting voters, talking to voters in the precinct, and communicating with the local party to help set the agenda for the election year.
A precinct delegate represents their neighborhood at party meetings and attends local and state conventions.
A delegate also helps turn out the vote on Election Day.
Delegate duties include:
What Is A Precinct?
A precinct is the smallest political unit in the country,
and all voters that live in the precinct vote at the same polling place. Precinct delegates must live in the same precinct they are elected to serve.
What Are The Qualifications?
Delegates are elected to a two-year term.
They must be at least 18 years old by the filing deadline.
They can hold elected office or run for elected office in addition to becoming a precinct delegate.
They must also be a registered voter.
They must file in person at the County Clerk’s office.
